The 4 E's of Energy

ITRC presented The 4 E’s of Energy for its districts on 11/4 in a combined Superintendent’s Conference Day for Science and Technology teachers hosted at Bethpage Middle School. The workshop was presented by the Long Island Power Authority and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.

Participants examined the consequences of the global community’s growing demand for energy. This hands-on interactive workshop highlighted how economics, efficiency, and the environment relate to the energy challenge before us. Teachers brought back a wealth of information along with posters, classroom resources, and a 400 page activity book to use with students so that students understand the impact their energy use makes and what actions they can take to make a difference. Topics and lessons included “Energy for Electricity”, “renewable Sources of Energy”, “Series and Parallel Circuits with Solar Cells”, “Nuclear Energy” and “Water and Geothermal Energy”, as well as many others.
