NY State Alignment

Here you will find over four thousand lessons and student interactives matched to New York State Learning Standards to the performance indicator level, as well as to competencies where applicable. Providers of the content we correlate include the Verizon Thinkfinity, Intel Teach, Professor Garfield, SAS Curriculum Pathways, and Oracle’s ThinkQuest programs. Videoconference units of instruction from NYIT’s Educational Enterprise Zone® are also included.

On July 19th, 2010, the New York State Board of Regents adopted the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for Mathematics and CCSS for English Language Arts & Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects, with the understanding that New York State may add additional expectations to the Common Core.  Implementation of the standards is expected in the 2011-2012 academic year. ThinkfinityNY and Beyond will continue to monitor these standards changes and adjust our alignments accordingly.

About the Alignment Process

The New York State Education Department requires that all correlations be accomplished through the direct review of a resource by a qualified aligner. In addition, any correlations made should be “directly on-point", that is, be a student performance that is an integral expectation of the resource and not an extension of it.  Based on these criteria, the NY alignment philosophy is a simple one: We align only to the primary performance indicators that the lesson or interactive addresses. That means if you use a resource aligned here, you can be confident that it will help your students meet or exceed the performance indicator(s) listed.
